David Burns

David Troy Burns, 52, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Harrisonville, was born Saturday, June 21, 1958 in Sikeston, Missouri, the son of Fred S. and Opal L. (Freeman) Burns. He departed this life at 6:35 p.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston.

David had been a Technician for Nextel in Houston for over 25 years. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and was a die-hard NASCAR fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Donald Burns and Tommy Burns.

He is survived by his life companion Nancy Vandeventer of Houston; two brothers Johnny C. Burns and wife Donna of Peculiar, and Billy E. Burns of Pleasant Hill; three sisters Edna Eaton and husband Wayne of Morehouse, Phyllis Burns of Malden, and Millie Cullum and husband Mike of Parma; 19 nieces and nephews; 36 great nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at the funeral home. Reverend Dean Pruitt officiated. Interment was in the Strasburg Cemetery. Casket bearers were Derek Blacketter, Monte Cummins, Bill Gunnels, C. W. Noble, Jerry Wilbanks, and Joel Young.
