Cynthia Shafer

Cynthia Ellen Shafer, of Independence, Missouri formerly of Strasburg, Missouri, was born Tuesday, June 9, 1959 in Harrisonville, Missouri, the Daughter of Billy Ray Martin and Lois Emmagene Ellifrits. She departed this life Friday, November 3, 2006 at the Research Medical Center, Kansas City, at the age of 47 years, 4 months and 24 days.

On July 2, 1978, Cynthia was united in marriage to Kevin Shafer in Kansas City, Kansas.

Cynthia was a homemaker and enjoyed babysitting. She enjoyed children and raised many as if they were her own. She was a member of Maywood Baptist Church in Independence. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandaughter, Reanna Shockley, one brother, Timothy Sharp and one sister Susan Renae Martin.

She is survived by her husband Kevin of the home; three sons, Gary and Misty Sharp, Richmond, Missouri, Kevin and Melanie Shafer Jr., Independence, Missouri. and Danny Lee Shafer, Independence, Missouri; one daughter Hattie and Michael Shafer Sugar Creek, Missouri; three grandchildren, Summer Sharp, Timothy Sharp, and Sativa Shockley; four brothers Robin Sharp, Strasburg, Missouri, Billy Ray Martin, Jr., Blue Springs, Missouri, Brian Martin, Kansas City, Missouri, and Bradley Martin, Independence, Missouri; and one sister, Lisa Swarts, Lebanon, Tennessee.

Funeral Services were held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill. Pastor Robert Spradling officiated. Burial in Strasburg Cemetery, Strasburg, Missouri. Pallbearers were William Liggett, Jr., William Mayer, Douglas McCerey, Michael Shaeffer, Buster Shafer, and Mark White.
