Clara J. Brown

Clara Jane Brown, 91, of Kingsville, was born October 23, 1931, in Odessa, Missouri, the daughter of Albert W. and Jocy K. (Early) White.  She departed this life Thursday, May 4, 2023, at her daughter’s home in Independence.

Clara attended Lee’s Summit High School. 

On June 26, 1948, she was united in marriage to Kenion R. Brown in Lee’s Summit. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2005.

Clare was a homemaker until her children were raised. She then began working as Certified Nursing Assistant and Restorative Therapist at the Oak Grove Health Care Center, She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Church of Christ.  She was also a member of the Kingsville Red Hatters.  She enjoyed horseback riding and spending time with family.

Clara was also preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers; one son, Gregory R. Brown; and one daughter, Theresa L. Ward.

She is survived by two daughters, Laurie A. Hicks of Urich and Wendy K. Bostwick of Independence; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at the Brown Cemetery, Oak Grove.  Casket bearers were Adam Hicks, Joshua Hicks, Levi Cross, Bill Cross, Owen Hicks, and Aden Hicks. Honorary casket bearer was Jake Springer.
