Carl Bernhardt Grahl, 82, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, formerly of Lake Lotawana, was born Wednesday, May 19, 1926 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the son of Carl B. and Grace (Phillips) Grahl. He departed this life Friday, December 26, 2008 at his home in Pleasant Hill.
On March 26, 1949, he was united in marriage to Dolores Sue Summers in Pierre, South Dakota.
Carl was an Office Manager for the United States Department of Agriculture starting in the Maryville office in 1963, later transferring to the Data Processing Center in Kansas City, he retired in 1985. He also owned and operated a farm in Northwest Missouri. He was a WWII Naval Air Corps veteran.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Donald.
He is survived by his wife Dolores of the home; three sons David Grahl of Columbus, Ohio, Keith Grahl and Kirt Grahl (and Lori) both of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren Kelley Meirose (and Scott) of St. Joseph, Ashley Grahl and Nathan Grahl both of Kansas City; two sisters Patricia Hinton (and Herb) of St. Joseph, Missouri and Marian Kearse (and Joe) of Rolla, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at the funeral home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner of the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church officiated. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were David Grahl, Keith Grahl, Kirt Grahl, Nathan Grahl and Mike Blanton. Graveside military services were conducted by the VFW Post #3118 honor guard.
