Bernice N. Mehrer, 81, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born April 13, 1926 in Harrisonville, the daughter of Norman C. and Lula E. (Knox) Redwine. She departed this life November 4, 2007 at the Cass Medical Center in Harrisonville.
She was united in marriage to Theodore H. Mehrer, Jr., in Pleasant Hill on April 29, 1942.
Bernice was a woman of tremendous faith in God and family. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School at East Lynne Baptist Church, where she touched the lives of so many children over the past several decades. She had a gift for music and was an accomplished poet.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her two brothers, William Redwine and Ray Redwine and her two sisters, Mary Clark and Rita Spangler.
She is survived by her two sons, Irving Mehrer of Greenwood and Frank Mehrer of Pleasant Hill; her two daughters, Priscilla Hamlin (and husband Richard) of Belton and Kay Sevy of Creighton; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home. Reverend Charles Turner officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Tyler Marks, Aaron Mehrer, David Mehrer, Jeremy Mehrer, Paul Mehrer, Rick Mehrer, and Scott Parris.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the East Lynne Baptist Church, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
