ALLEN D. LAWRENCE

Allen Dean Lawrence, 71, of Pleasant Hill, was born January 24, 1949, in Lockwood, Missouri, the son of Vester C. and Fannie H. (Vaughn) Lawrence.  He departed this life, Sunday, October 4, 2020, at the Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Allen was a 1968 Pleasant Hill High School graduate.  He was a United States Army Vietnam War Veteran earning a Bronze Star.

On February 24, 1984, he was united in marriage to Susan Juliette Santos in Lee’s Summit.

Allen was employed as a Meat Cutter for R.B. Rice in Lee’s Summit and later worked as a Machine Operator for Westrock in Blue Springs.  He was a member of the Meat Cutters Union Local #575.  He enjoyed working in the outdoors, helping neighbors with yard work, raising baby goats, Mexican food, and having control of the TV remote. He especially enjoyed eating dinner by the water, traveling in Hawaii and always loved the grandchildren.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents; one son, John Hall; and one brother, Lee Lawrence.

He is survived by his wife Susan of the home; four children, Vickie Hall of Pleasant Hill, April (and Eddie) Nelson of Warrensburg, Misty (and Dave) Emerson of Kansas, and Quentin (and Shanda) Lawrence of Pleasant Hill; three brothers, Junior Lawrence of Adrian, Dale (and Judy) Lawrence of Wheatland, and Jimmy (and Penney) Sargent of Montrose; one sister, Audrey (and Harold) Keutzer of Hohenwald, Tennessee; 12 grandchildren; 14great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Cremation has been accorded.

A memorial service was held Saturday, July 31, 2021, at the funeral home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner officiated.  Graveside military services and inurnment were in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with full military honors by the United Army and the V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard.

Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to V.F.W. Post #3118 Veteran’s Relief Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
