Alberta Benware

Alberta Evon Benware, 81, a lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Monday, July 29, 1929 in the Hickory Grove area near Pleasant Hill, Missouri, the daughter of Lonie A. and Edna Pearl (Small) James. She departed this life at 4:15 P.M. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

On April 8, 1950, Alberta was united in marriage to Robert E. Benware at the Hickory Grove Baptist Church.

Alberta was a homemaker. She was a former member of the Hickory Grove Baptist Church, the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill and a current member of the Strasburg Baptist Church. With every church she attended she was actively and heavenly involved. Through her many years of service she had been Church Hostess, WMU, Baptist Builders Mission Team, Cradle Roll Ministry, Bed Babies Sunday School, VBS Teacher, and was always available to assist others. She was a member of the Ivy Leaf Chapter O.E.S., Pleasant Hill and the Friendly Homemakers Club.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnnie P. James, Ronald D. James, Hobert Milican, and one sister Verna Milican.

She is survived by her husband Bob of the home; three sons Bernie (and Joy) Benware of Holden, Rick (and Gretchen) Benware, and Bradd (and Chantell) Benware, all of Pleasant Hill; one daughter Oretta (and Gary) Smith of Raymore, Missouri; 9 grandchildren Derek (and Sandy), Laura (and Matt), Amanda (and Jeff), David (and Marlena), Patrick (and Christina), Bryan, Casey, Megan, and Crystal; 5 great grandchildren Carson, Ayden, Logan, Sutton, and Lilly; one brother Lonie (and Mary) James of Lebanon; three sisters Della Croy of Lee's Summit, Nyla Parris of Pleasant Hill; Alma (and Homer) Foote of Harrisonville; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services were held Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home. Pastor Preston Sanders of Strasburg Baptist Church officiated. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Derek Smith, David Benware, Patrick Benware, Bryan Benware, Casey Benware, Matt Case, and Jeffrey Moorefield.

Visitation with the Eastern Star Service was held Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
