ADA LEE KING
Ada Lee King, 85, lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born, September 15, 1933, in Pleasant Hill, the daughter of George and Annie (Fincher) Stafford. She departed this life, Monday, January 7, 2019, at her home surrounded with love and family.
Ada Lee was a 1951 Pleasant Hill High School graduate later earning an Associate’s Degree from the Central Missouri State University.
On August 2, 1954, she was united in marriage to Alfred Lewis King, Sr. in Pleasant Hill. He preceded her in death 9 months earlier on April 23, 2018.
Ada Lee was a co-owner, along with her husband, of Stafford Hardware in Pleasant Hill for several years. She was also employed as the Cass County Auditor from 1981 to 1989, first appointed to fill the remaining term by then Governor "Walking" Joe Teasdale. She also was the Cass County Circuit Clerk from 1995 until 2001. She was a member and former head of the Cass County Women's Democratic Association, the Lioness and Lions Club, the V.F.W. Post #3118 Women's Auxiliary, and the Business and Professional Women's Association of Cass County. She enjoyed swimming, being outdoors, walks, oil painting, playing piano, and singing with different vocal groups.
Ada Lee was also preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Craig Poole; one brother Corporal Jack Stafford, and one sister, Marie Coates.
She is survived by one son Al King, Jr. of Pleasant Hill; one daughter, Ann Poole of Harrisonville, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Colin King, Riley King, T.J. Poole, Courtney Poole, Kyle Poole, Nathan Poole, and Jonathan Poole; 10 great grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Thurman of Holden, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Cremation has been accorded.
Visitation was held Wednesday evening, January 16, 2018, at the funeral home.
A Celebration of Ada Lee’s Life was held Thursday, January 17, 2018, at the funeral home. Reverend Wyatt Shanks officiated. Inurnment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the V.F.W. Post #3118 Veteran’s relief fund.
