MARJORIE E. DILLON

Marjorie E. Dillon, 100, of Strasburg, was born, March 4, 1921, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of James R. and Evelyn L. (Greene) McMillan.  She departed this life for her eternal home, Tuesday, April 6, 2021, in Blue Springs, Missouri.  She went from the loving arms of her family to the loving arms of her Savior.

She was a 1939 East Lynn High School graduate and married Garland Dillon on November 16, 1939.  They settled south of Strasburg where she had continued to live.  Garland preceded her in death on October 26, 1997.

Marjorie was actively involved in the Strasburg community.  She taught Sunday School at the Strasburg Union Church for many years.  She was active in the Strasburg Community Club and Garden Club and served for 35 years as secretary and treasurer of the Strasburg Cemetery Association.  She also served as a Cass County election judge for more years than she could remember.

She was an avid reader, wrote poetry, enjoyed gardening, and loved entertaining family and friends.

The most important thing in Marjorie’s life was her relationship with Jesus Christ. Her life was a testimony for her Lord.

Others preceding her were one brother, Robert McMillan, and two sisters, Wilma Hall and Darlene Carr, and one great-great grandson, Finlee James Vanderpool.

She is survived by two children, Larry Dillon of Oak Grove and Judy Vanderpool of Blue Springs; one brother, Woody (and Anna) Burton of Roseburg, Oregon; 7 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 25 great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Cremation has been accorded.

A celebration of Marjorie’s life was held Saturday, April 17, 2021, at the funeral home.  Reverend’s John Clark and Steve Carpenter officiated.  Inurnment will be in the Strasburg Cemetery at a later date.
