Jayson Linthicum

Jayson Kyle Linthicum, 31, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Thursday, February 8, 1979 in Independence, Missouri, the son of Gene and Donna Jean (Roberts) Linthicum. He departed this life at 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at his parents' home in Pleasant Hill surrounded by his family and friends.

Jayson's childhood dream was to become a Police Officer. He attended Pleasant Hill Schools until his freshman year when he chose to change to home schooling and graduated one year early from the Southwood Christian High School in 1996. While in school he was under an internship with the Harrisonville Police Department, was a cadet with the Belton Police Department, and was a member of the Cass County Sheriff's department Explorers. Following his graduation from the Police Academy in Independence; he was a Ray County Sheriff's Deputy, an officer for the Orrick Police Department and a Park Ranger for Smithville Lake in Clay County. He was currently employed as an officer of the Garden City Police Department. Police work was Jayson's life, but in his spare time he enjoyed refurnishing Antique furniture and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his parents Gene and Donna of Pleasant Hill; one brother Douglas and Amanda Linthicum of Shell City, Missouri; his maternal grandmother Margie Roberts of Raymore, Missouri; 2 uncles Jeff Roberts of East Lynne, Missouri, and Dean and Lynn Linthicum of Pleasant Hill; 5 nieces and nephews Rebaka, Trevor, Alyssa, Shawn and Brandon; several cousins; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Services were held Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill. Reverend James Russell Chaplain of the Garden City Police Department and minister of the Blue Springs Baptist Temple officiated. Interment with full Police burial honors was held in Swan Lake Memorial Park Cemetery in Grain Valley.
